:bust_in_silhouette:: What is the story about how Carve Beauty Bar started?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Our owners Lindsay Murphy and Tina Rigali have had a dream of going into business together ever since they met 15 years ago. It never seemed to be the right time or place till they laid eyes on our beautiful building here in Holyoke. They walked through the door and knew this was the place to make that dream come true. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: What are some newsworthy updates you can tell us about your business? ⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: We’re always talking about ways to grow our business and great new services we can offer in the future. Our building has so many opportunities for growth! In the future, we are especially interested in adding more spa services. We’re very excited to announce we’ve hired 2 new assistants (Kate Lynch and Rachel Boggart) to help grow our stylist family and can’t wait to get them trained and out on the salon floor taking their own clients. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: What do you love about Holyoke: ⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Being in the highlands we love the older architecture and history around every corner. There’s a real sense of neighborhood and community to be found in Holyoke. The camaraderie between local businesses is something special here, you really feel like everyone has your back and is rooting for you. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: What makes your business unique: ⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: We really want to take care of you while you’re here. When we’re not experiencing a pandemic we offer treats like chocolates and mints along with a selection of coffee, tea, soda, and seltzer. But what makes us really excited is to be able to offer a nice glass of wine or local microbrew to go with your service. We also offer all sorts of amenities like free wifi, nail polish if you fancy doing your nails while your color is processing, and even workspace if you have some business to catch up on while you’re pampering yourself. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: Is there a local business that Carve Beauty Bar could work in concert with, achieving positive results for each business involved? Please explain:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: We’ve actually teamed up with Crave Food truck and a handful of local artisans on Nov 30th for our Virtual Vendor Fair pick up. 11/27-11/29 we highlighted local vendors through our social media platforms and shared links to their online stores, where people could shop the fair and place orders to pick up at the salon and skip the shipping. We thought it was a great time to get Crave to come out and provide delicious snacks to all those hungry shoppers. In years past we’ve done this Holiday Bazaar inside the salon as a way to showcase our beautiful space to the community and cannot wait to get back to that once it’s safe to do so. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: Is there anything you could say to the readers that would inspire them to start their own local business?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: There’s nothing better than being your own boss and seeing your hopes and dreams come to fruition. When you start your own local business it connects you to your community and neighbors in a way that little else can. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: Keeping in mind that all businesses vary and that the details and resources are specific to whatever the startup is, why did you start a business in Holyoke?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Holyoke is a central location to the valley and our existing clientele base with easy access to all highways. One of our owners, Tina Rigali is a born and bred Holyoker and loved the idea of having a business in her hometown.:bust_in_silhouette:: Are you working on any community projects? Tell us about them and your goals for them?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: For the month of November we had been running a food drive to benefit Margaret’s Pantry and have plans to do this semi-annually. We’d also like to start an annual coat drive and try to do some sort of fundraising for local women’s shelters in the coming years. These are things we’ve done in the past, but we’d like to make them annual occurrences, that the community can count on year in and year out. ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: Describe an average day at your workplace?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Great music, upbeat workspace, smiles, and a real sense of created family between our team and clientele. We have such a dedicated customer base that has been with us since the beginning that not only do stylists recognize each other’s clients by name but the clients recognize each other as well! ⠀

:bust_in_silhouette:: Can you explain how the business has a positive impact on the community?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Absolutely! We work very closely with lots of community programs and have been honored to provide hair services for the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade Colleen’s on banquet night, as well as donating our time to lots of other charity events. We’re hoping to take part in even more events in 2021 and have created a position on our staff for an official community outreach liaison, Alicia Saloio. Alicia has been a stylist for 8 years and has been a member of our Carve family since 2017. Her passion for helping people feel their best was one of the main reasons for her going into this field. In the coming year, Alicia has so many great ideas to help Carve positively impact our community.

:bust_in_silhouette:: If you could choose a celebrity to endorse your business, who would it be and why?⠀

:speaking_head_in_silhouette:: Halsey. She’s unapologetically her own person, has a great message of inclusivity, and is a total badass! (just like us 😉
